Aftertrace Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 20, 2026
Operator: Neovue Labs
Contact: support@neovuelabs.ai
Aftertrace is an interactive story app currently intended for users in the United States. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the current iOS preview, and what will happen only if we later turn on optional accounts, cloud saves, purchases, or AI features. We will update this policy before those features become available if their actual operation differs from the descriptions below.
The current preview
The playable story and its content are included in the app. Your story choices, written replies and drafts, completed journeys, onboarding interests, and sound and haptic preferences are stored on your iPhone. The current preview does not upload those story records or replies to our server, create an Aftertrace account, charge you, or send your replies to an AI provider. You can delete saved journeys and drafts in Settings → Saved progress → Delete all progress. Deleting the app also removes its app data from that device, subject to how you manage device backups.
When the app starts, it requests service configuration from our API so it can check which features are available. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, necessarily handles network information such as the IP address, request time, and device or app connection information to deliver and protect that request. The current API also offers public story catalog information. We do not use an advertising or cross-app tracking SDK in the current preview.
If you choose to create an account
Apple and Google sign-in are currently unavailable. If enabled, choosing one of these options will send a provider-issued identity token to our server for verification. We will use the provider's stable account identifier to create or find an Aftertrace account with a separate, randomly generated Aftertrace user ID. We do not need your Google or Apple password. A provider may include an email address in its sign-in response; the current account design does not save an email address, name, or profile picture. Apple may give you the option to hide your email address. We will store session records so you can remain signed in, and an encrypted Apple credential if needed to disconnect your Apple sign-in when you delete the account. You may also use the preview without signing in.
Apple and Google handle the information you give them under their own policies: Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy. Our server runs on Cloudflare; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
If cloud saves or AI stories become available
Cloud saves are currently unavailable. If you choose to use them when enabled, we will store your story identifier, choices, reply text, draft, progress, and save time under your Aftertrace account so you can resume on another device. Guest progress will remain separate unless you explicitly choose an import option. A signed-in account's progress is also stored separately on the iPhone.
Real-time AI text, image, video, and voice generation are currently unavailable. If enabled, creating new story content may require sending your submitted reply and the relevant story context to an AI service. The providers under consideration are DeepSeek for text, Google Gemini for images, PixVerse for video, and ElevenLabs for voice. We will identify the providers actually used, explain what they receive, and ask for your explicit permission before sending personal data to a third-party AI service. Generated material and necessary story context may then be stored with your account so you can continue the story. Please avoid entering personal or sensitive information into story replies.
If purchases become available
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are currently unavailable. If enabled, Apple will process payment through the App Store. We will receive and retain the transaction and entitlement information needed to verify a purchase, manage a subscription or credit balance, prevent duplicate grants, handle refunds, and provide support. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple. Deleting an Aftertrace account does not itself cancel an App Store subscription; you can manage subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
How we use and share information
We use the information described above to deliver the features you request, remember progress and preferences, authenticate accounts, maintain service security, respond to support requests, and, if enabled, administer purchases and generate requested story content. We do not sell personal information. We do not currently serve targeted ads or use your story replies for cross-app advertising.
Information may be handled by Cloudflare for hosting and security, by Apple or Google when you choose their sign-in or Apple's purchasing services, and by the AI providers described above only if the relevant features are enabled and you have given explicit permission for any personal data shared with third-party AI. We will not send your Apple or Google sign-in token or provider account identifier to AI generation providers or use it to train general-purpose AI models. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and its users. We will use service providers whose protections for information handled on our behalf are consistent with this policy, and limit their use to services they provide to Aftertrace.
Retention, deletion, and your choices
Local story progress and preferences stay on your device until you delete the saved progress, change a preference, or remove the app, subject to device backups you control. The current preview has no Aftertrace account, cloud save, or purchase ledger for users. If those features become available, we will publish the applicable retention and backup-deletion periods or criteria before enabling them. You will be able to request account deletion in the app or by contacting us. Deletion will remove the associated account and cloud saves from active systems, subject to any records we must retain for legal obligations, security, disputes, or purchase accounting. We will describe those exceptions and any server-log retention in the updated policy. If you disconnect Apple or Google sign-in, their own records are governed by their policies and account controls.
You can ask us at support@neovuelabs.ai to access, correct, export, or delete information we hold about you, or to exercise other rights available where you live. We may need to verify the request before acting. You can also change local preferences in the app. Where we ask for permission for optional processing, you can withdraw it; that may prevent the related feature from working. We will explain any limits on a request when we respond.
Security and international processing
We use HTTPS for app-to-server requests and design account session storage to use the iOS Keychain and server-side token hashes. Access to stored information is limited to what is needed to operate the service. No security method is perfect. Cloudflare and any future service providers may process information in the United States and other places where they operate. We will update this policy if future data storage or transfers require additional disclosures or safeguards.
Children
Aftertrace is intended for people age 13 or older. We do not knowingly use the app to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact support@neovuelabs.ai so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
Changes and contact
We will update the effective date when this policy changes and provide additional notice where required. If a change materially affects an optional feature, we will explain it before you use that feature. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@neovuelabs.ai.
